Warehouse picking installations vary greatly depending on the type of operation you have. Quite often a combination of picking systems is needed. It all depends on the number of products, picks per order, picks per SKU, number of SKUs and whether you are handling piece pick, case pick, or full-pallet loads.
Warehouse Picking Equipment
Depending on the type of picking required, picking equipment will vary on your type of application.
Automatic Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS)
An ASRS system consists of a variety of computer-controlled systems for automatically placing and retrieving goods from defined storage locations. Ideal for applications where high volumes of SKU’s move in-and-out and where accurate real time data is kept on inventory.
ASRS increases efficiency and through-put, saves space and eliminates the need for physical inventory. Units can provide extremely high storage density with capabilities to work in racking up to 100 feet high.
We offer a number of high-capacity AS/RS systems with load handling devices for single deep, double deep and multi deep storage.
Carton Flow Racks
Carton flow rack systems are gravity driven and perfect for applications where there are a number of SKUs. Based on the first-in first-out principle, these systems are designed to work with a range of products and can cope with a variety of weights and sizes in the same pick locations. Product is stocked from the rear of the flow rack and picking is done from the face. Product can be stocked in cartons or smaller bins
Carton flow racks can be integrated with conveyors and other warehouse storage solutions to create functional pick modules and picking efficiency.
Horizontal carousels have hanging racks that can be configured to accommodate various size storage bins. These carousels provide very high pick rates as well as high storage density.
Vertical Carousels look like large vending machines and can utilise any available height. Also known as vertical lifts, these ASRS storage systems can be adapted and customised for almost any purpose.
Automated conveyor and sortation systems are designed bespoke and can suit any large scale pick operation. Using a variety of equipment and system design. Pallet conveyor systems come in all many variations including power roller conveyors, belt conveyors, gravity conveyors, flexible conveyors, incline conveyors, sortation conveyors, pipe handing conveyors, spiral conveyors, bucket conveyors and complete custom conveyors.
Where there are few picks required per SKU static shelving is the most economical solution. Product is either placed directly on the shelving or in corrugated, plastic, or steel parts bins
